Rembrandt Etchings
NOTRE DAME, IN - This exhibition of 20 works provides another rare opportunity to study the exceptional collection of Rembrandt van Ryn etchings that were donated to the Snite Museum of Art by Mr. & Mrs. Jack Feddersen. As these master works on paper are extremely sensitive to changes in light and environment, the museum only places the collection on view every three years. Rembrandt is often regarded as one of the greatest artists of his time as well as one of the most gifted and innovative printmakers and The Feddersen Rembrandt collection ranks among the most important gifts the museum has ever received.
George Catlin Paintings
HARTFORD, CT - The Eli Wilner & Company has framed four Catlin paintings for the Wadsworth Atheneum. Working closely with Curator Elizabeth Kornhauser and drawing upon her knowledge of how other similar Catlin paintings owned by Colt were framed, Eli Wilner & Company created replicas of a simple, elegant 1850’s style frame with a sanded cove and gilded surface. The four paintings were treated as a group and all are in the same style frame.
‘Corot to Monet’
LONDON- The Impressionists were indebted to a longer tradition of sketching and painting outdoors. ‘Corot to Monet’ will chart the development of open-air landscape painting up to the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874. Drawing on the National Gallery’s rich collection of 19th-century French landscapes, the exhibition will feature all the major artists of this genre.
Ars Electronica Center

SEDONA, AZ - For an artist to stand before a block of stone, a gift from nature, and begin to chip away at it takes real courage. For an artist to feel that the image they are about to awaken is worthy of that intrusion requires total trust that the parts eliminated will reveal a richer vision. At Sedona’s Lanning Gallery, the work of sculptor Kathi Caricof unmistakably marks her as an artist worthy of those efforts. On “1st Friday,” January 2nd, the gallery showcases her latest sculptures with a reception from 5-8 pm.
David Maljkovic Solos at Metro
New York City - Metro Pictures presents David Maljkovic's first solo exhibition at the gallery January 17 - February 21, 2009. Mary Randlett Photography
SALEM, OR - A small exhibition of portraits by Mary Randlett, a Washington photographer who has documented some of the most prominent artists, writers, poets and thinkers in the Pacific Northwest, will be on display Jan. 10 through March 8 at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University.

Crimean War Nurse Portrait
LONDON.- The only known painting of Mary Seacole, the black Victorian nurse regarded as one of the most significant figures to emerge from the Crimean War, is to remain at the National Portrait Gallery where it has been on loan since 2004. The iconic portrait has been bought for £130, 000 through a public appeal by the Gallery and a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant of £96,200.
